History of Majdur Kisan College
March 24th, 1981 marked a pivotal moment in Panki's history, a remote and underdeveloped area in Palamu district, Jharkhand, located 45 kilometers away from Daltongunj, the district headquarters. On this day, a group of education enthusiasts from Panki's villages joined forces to address the challenge of higher education accessibility. Despite daunting communication hurdles and difficult circumstances, they established an institution aimed at providing intermediate and degree-level education locally. However, their initial efforts were thwarted, and the college closed in 1995 due to technical issues from the State Government's Department of HRD.
Undeterred, they launched a comeback in 2002, led by a determined secretary, Dr. Bindeshwar Singh, and a dynamic acting principal, Dr. Rajesh Singh. The struggle persisted. A significant turning point occurred on October 5th, 2014, when the then Vice Chancellor of Ranchi University, Prof. (Dr.) S.S. Kushwaha, recognized the educational needs of the region and the earnest efforts of the education advocates during his visit to the college.
Subsequently, the college received affiliations in various subjects, starting with five subjects in 2005 (Hindi/History/Political Science/Sociology/Economics), expanding to eight subjects in 2007 (English/Sanskrit/Urdu/Khortha/Kurukh/Mathematics/Philosophy/Home Science), followed by two subjects in 2009 (Geography/Psychology), and one subject in 2010 (Commerce).
In July 2012, the NSS Cell became one of the top performers among university colleges. By 2016, the college attained permanent affiliation in 15 out of 16 subjects, with Commerce being the exception. In 2017, a new building equipped with modern facilities such as a computer lab, library, seminar hall, practical rooms, conference hall, laboratories, and adequate restroom facilities was inaugurated. The college has become a beacon of educational advancement in its socio-economically challenged locality and continues to strive towards achieving the status of an exemplary institution. In 2019, through relentless dedication and unwavering effort, our institution achieved a significant milestone by earning accreditation from NAAC with a CGPA of 1.53 and a grade of "C". This accomplishment profoundly impacted all stakeholders, transforming the methods, mindset, and approaches to teaching and learning within the institution. Its influence reverberated throughout every corner of the institution and touched the lives of all those connected to it.
